Leaving Santa Paula, we travel to Aunt Helen’s in Pasadena, and enjoy Christmas together. Aunt Helen is 96 now, and still plays a competitive game of cards (500 is her favorite).
JR is a master in the kitchen, creating excellent dinners for the Christmas holidays. Great catching up with Pam and Skye.
Besides cooking, JR finger picks guitar superbly. Lot of fun “guitar hunting” while he finds a new “just right” guitar. Great time jammin’ Christmas songs together in an old fashioned way.
With Christmas holidays over, it’s time to be movin’ on. Originally planning to stay in Menifee and visit friends, there was “no room at the Inn” (or RV Park in our case), so we skip ahead on our list of planned destinations: Palm Springs. Warm sunshine, clear blue skies, plenty of enthusiasm by everyone here playing cards, watching movies, playing guitar and singing together, swim, bicycle, relax and visit.
The 20 mile bicycle ride thru the Coachella Valley presents a view of a beautiful yet harsh environment.
Good, local church called Southwest Community Church. Bill Butterworth preaches wonderfully on Encouragement.
Not yet New Year’s Eve, many Christmas lights still up. Some people really go all out, and one of the top twenty Christmas lightings in the country is nearby, where lights blink and bedazzle, choreographed to music broadcast over FM radio for all the cars driving by.
We have officially turned eastward along the southern states. See you next time On Our Adventure!
