At the RV park, we play pool, taking on the names Sven and Erzy because those are the names on the scoreboard, and there are no markers to change the names or keep score. I’m Sven. Sherry is Erzy. Lot of laughs calling each other those names. We talk about writing children’s stories called “Erzy and Sven – On Adventure”. Their friend Louie will show up periodically. Be fun to read what surprises life has in store for them.
We see our first Dung Beetles! These beetles stand on their front two legs, rolling balls of dung around backwards using their hind feet, all in the interest of attracting a mate! (Youtube)
Touring manufacturing plants is a kick for us. Toyota built its most advanced truck production facility in the United States, right in San Antonio, and we got to witness firsthand the process on the production line.
On to Austin. We love swimming in warm, natural rivers and swimming holes. The Upper and Lower Falls at McKinney Falls State Park really help us cool off on some already hot afternoons.
Touring the Texas state capital in Austin gives us an appreciation for the battles Texas fought in its history to become the great state it is today.
We receive an email (thank you for your emails) about one of the top natural swimming holes in the country near us. We head over to Jacob’s Well in Wimberley and find crystal clear water surrounded by boulders where we swim, jump, and overall have a great time.
Everybody tells us to visit the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. Going there, we were less than excited because we think it’s a bunch of flowers and trees, which we see a lot. But it turns out to be a wonderful experience, and we highly recommend it.
Back at the trailer, I’m sitting outside reading when Sherry steps out, screams. I pick up my legs because she is looking toward my feet. I see a 6 foot long snake coiled up like a python at my feet with its fangs open as though he is screaming. I start screaming. Everybody is screaming. The snake quickly slithers away, climbs up the closest tree to a limb about 20 feet up, then crawls across the limb to who knows where. Scared the daylights out of all of us including the snake. Only Louie kept his cool. Whew! Plenty of laughter afterward.
That’s been our excitement lately. See you next time – On Our Adventure!
