It’s wonderful to be friends with Sherry’s cousin Mike and his wife Belinda. Stay a few days with them in Queen Creek, AZ, while we enjoy beautiful sunrises, hundreds of saguaro cactus, and warm sunny days. If you’ve never enjoyed Danish Aebleskiver for breakfast, you’re missing a tasty, spherical type of pancake. Yummy breakfast.
Heard of the Lost Dutchman Mine? The legend is alive in Tortilla Flats, a tiny tourist town, where restaurants are wallpapered with dollar bills. Be sure to enjoy the quiet boat ride on Canyon Lake to view steep canyon walls, soaring eagles, and, we’re told, bighorn sheep. In the evenings, we sing songs and play guitar while Sherry provides massages.
A few repairs needed on the trailer are a snap with the talents (and tools) of Sherry and Mike. Everyone bids adieu, then we continue on south toward Tucson. Along the road is the Rooster Cogburn Ostrich Ranch. Can we buy an ostrich egg to make scrambled egg? Yes! One ostrich egg equals eighteen chicken eggs. Taste smoother than chicken, and fluffier. Enjoy the experience! At the Ranch, be sure to feed the mules, deer, goats, prairie dogs, and lorikeets. Goats are such fun to feed: Their wiggly tongues gently take food from our hands (or lips if we dare!)
Arrive in Tucson, and laugh a lot with Sherry’s parents Bev and Gene. More great news: Our son Joe arrives to celebrate Bev’s birthday! We always enjoy seeing him, and the time here with him will be extra special.
Most of the country endures record cold temperatures while we enjoy warm, dry weather in the Southwest. Yea for us! <grin> See you next week On Our Adventure!
