After Yosemite, we travel east through Nevada on US Hwy 50, nicknamed “The Loneliest Highway in America”. Arrived in Austin, Nevada, on a Saturday afternoon to the sound of live music in the park. This small town of 300 people was hosting a free barbeque, complete with live music and movie in the park. Loved it!
150 miles east of Austin we experienced 5,000 year old Pinon-Juniper trees in Great Basin National Park. We’ve now seen the tallest trees (Redwoods), the biggest trees (Sequoia), and the oldest trees (Pinon-Juniper). The stars in Great Basin National Park are worth all the miles it takes to get there.

Stayed a couple of nights in Wyoming at Curt Gowdy State Park near Cheyenne before traveling into Colorado to celebrate Sherry’s Dad Gene’s 90th birthday. The party was great fun. Long-time friends, plus relatives from all over the country, arrived in good spirits to help the birthday boy celebrate.

Happy Birthday Gene!

Stayed with friends Susie and Kraig for several weeks while we visited with them, their parents from Indiana, other friends, and more friends! Watched our son Joe play soccer, and played cards with him, in addition to simply catching up on all he is up to while we are out gallivanting around.

Traveled a short distance south to Franktown, located between Denver and Colorado Springs. Friends Mike and Lynne welcomed us to stay while Mike helped us remodel the inside of our trailer. He is an amazing woodworker, transforming boards of pine into beautiful buffet and kitchen table. Such an artisan.
.
Sherry did an excellent job staining and finishing all the wood. And Mike answered Bob’s thousands of questions every step of the way. Really enjoyed our time together.

Wrapped up the remodel (phase one) just in time to head west to meet up with friends Tim and Ellen and other friends to bicycle for a week in gorgeous Utah. We are heading there now. We will have pictures for you next time. So until then, thank you for again joining us … On Our Adventure!
