As we bid farewall to a fun winter in Tucson, we visit numerous cousins on our way to California: Mike and Belinda, their children and families. We get up early to cheer on Adam during his triathlon (go Adam!). Cousin Peggy and her many wonderful friends; and we meet new terrific friends such as Daryl and Paula from Canada (eh?).
I couldn’t resist this photo of dog treats in Walmart. Especially the starry white teeth!
Animals at Out of Africa meander in their own acreage while we are the ones fenced in – to keep us out of their space. Not a zoo, it is an animal rescue center for large exotic animals. We highly recommend a visit. Notice in the photo how Sherry braves feeding a giraffe by placing the celery stick between her lips. That giraffe has a 16” tongue. She nearly got a very slobbery kiss!
Cousin Peggy asks if we want to go to the bar at the end of the road. We say sure, not realizing fully what we agreed to. Located in the middle of nowhere, 5 miles on an almost 4-wheel drive dirt road, we come to Nellie Mine Bar. Parking lot fills up, band cranks out the tunes, and a good time is had by all.
Yuma, our last stop in Arizona, is mighty hot, so after a couple of days we continue to the cooler San Diego climate. Friends Andy and Carolyn at Chuparosa Vineyards in Ramona, CA, make fabulous wines. Be sure to visit their tasting room on the weekend.
And yes, the mountains in Arizona are gorgeous!

We look forward to visiting old friends, seeing new places, and meeting new friends this summer in sunny California … On Our Adventure!
